Sitting by open windows.

I'm sitting here looking out the window, here in southern Wisconsin. It's a beautiful day with the bugs all doing their chirping. Since I was little, I loved open windows in the house. There is nothing better than fresh air and feeling a breeze work it's way through the house to another open window, on the other side.

Here in Wisconsin, we have lots of days that allow for open windows. Minus winter, which is its own beast, the rest of the year has many days that allow for the opening of a window. But in the not so long future we will be moving back to Texas, the land of many warm days and things that want to bite you.

I have always loved Texas, for those who have never been there, it has a few different geographic regions, the state is massive. I lived in the Dallas area which is mainly prairie for almost two decades. It's not the most scenic area and definitely hot much of the year. Now we are moving to East Texas, the land of large pine forests and swamp as you go further south. It is a beautiful area of Texas, but still hotter than hell many days of the year.

I hope we can find a home in a nice shady area, hopefully with some of those big pines around it, so I can open the windows. Sitting by an open window on a nice day is such a simple pleasure; one that I need much more of. I guess I have time to think of ways to manage the heat and keep windows open, increasing my time in shorts and flip-flops for one. I guess I will just have to see.

For anyone living in east Texas that has secrets to enjoying fresh air and not melting, please feel free to share, you can figure out how to contact me at timapple.com
