Too much Kindle talk, I know. But I’ve read some of the early hands on reviews, and with my Paperwhite being one of the originals from like ten years ago and with the old USB micro charging ports, it is time to upgrade. I think I will go with the Kindle ColorSoft for sure.


I’m still thinking about Kindles… I wonder if having color is worth it. I don’t read graphic novels really, but the kids might.. 🤔


Amazon announces a color Kindle. I wonder these days if a Kindle is worth it? I tend to use my phone and the Kindle app more often than not. How many people get real use out of their Kindle? Are you doing all your reading from home?


To much tech?

As of late, I have wondered if my natural interest in technology is good for me at all. I mean, I know there is much good that comes through technological discovery and advancement, but I am not involved in any of that. I sit and ponder operating systems, what editor is the best, what service should I use for this or that. Furthermore, I am not the one advancing things myself, I more or less use and critique them at best.

I watched “Stranger Things” again, this time with my oldest daughter. Thanks to Eddie’s character in season 4, my daughter asked me for the first time on the way to school today..“Dad, can you play Master of Puppets”… So proud, thanks Eddie, sorry you were killed by creepy bats.

Diets

For the past decade or so I have jumped around diet to diet, or lifestyle some would say. I’ve done a lot of them, and some I stuck with and some I haven’t. But lord knows I have tried a bunch. These are my thoughts on some of them these days. Paleo This is the first major diet I had tried and to be honest I had really great success with it.

An end to what was a fun rebellious pastime

I became a Linux user in 1999. I started with Slackware downloaded over a ppp connection over a couple of days. For the next two decades following I preached the wisdom of the penguin, opensource, and free software. It was fun! We were like the cowboys of the internet, fighting the outlaws (private hardware and software corporations). We worked together and evangelized what we saw as the right direction. Boy were we successful.

Sitting by open windows.

I'm sitting here looking out the window, here in southern Wisconsin. It's a beautiful day with the bugs all doing their chirping. Since I was little, I loved open windows in the house. There is nothing better than fresh air and feeling a breeze work it's way through the house to another open window, on the other side. Here in Wisconsin, we have lots of days that allow for open windows.
